Free online tennis lessons · 3D serve

See the serve.
Every spin.
Every bounce.

A 3D model of a tennis player hitting kick, slice and flat serves. Choose the court, the target and the hand he serves with, then watch the whole motion in slow motion from any angle. The ball's flight, spin and bounce are computed from real physics, and the body moves the way tour players do.

Online tennis lessons: improve your serve like a coach would show you

Whether you are looking for tennis lessons for beginners or want to fix one part of your serve technique, seeing the motion clearly is the first step. A tennis coach slows the serve down and shows you the toss, the racquet drop, the contact point and the follow-through. This free 3D tennis serve lesson lets you do the same from any angle, at any speed, and see how each change moves the ball.

How do I hit a kick serve in tennis?

Toss the ball a little behind and above your head, brush up and across the back of the ball from low to high, and finish with the racquet moving up and out. The upward brush gives topspin and sidespin, so the ball clears the net high, dips into the box and kicks up after the bounce.

Flat, slice or kick serve: what is the difference?

A flat serve has little spin and is the fastest. A slice serve has mostly sidespin and curves away from the server's racquet side. A kick serve has topspin plus sidespin, travels slower and higher over the net, and bounces up high.

How can I improve my tennis serve at home?

Study the motion in slow motion: a consistent toss, a relaxed racquet drop behind the back, an upward reach to contact with a nearly straight arm, and forearm rotation through the ball. Shadow the motion without a ball, then practise the toss on its own before hitting.

Are these tennis lessons free?

Yes. The 3D serve lab is free to use in any web browser, on a computer, tablet or phone. Use it before your next tennis lesson or practice session to know exactly what to work on.
